Skyboxes with Corel Bryce 5
From Axiom
This is an Axiom Tutorial from the folks over at Project Paragon
Introduction
Skyboxes have always been highly sought after because they look good while being very cheap to run. When you compare the overhead of running a skybox with a custom-designed sky/horizon environment, you quickly realize why so many games use them.
With Axiom, skyboxes can be loaded in as a set of individual files (defined in a material) or as a zip file.
For the start, this tutorial will show you how step by step how to make a fully loadable sky box in Corel Bryce 5.
Make sure you have a base Axiom installation working. Ie, you can run it and it will display a blank screen.
Step 1 - Making the Skyboxes
Your beginning Corel Bryce 5 screen should look like the image here
Your first thing to do is to set up the camera you are going to use. You can only use either Director or Camera for the skyboxes, so its easiest to stay with the Director.
Open up the Director properties by double clicking the trackball. For the settings, you want to set the it to look like the following
There is a great tutorial here which will show you the whole way through.
NOTE: For the skybox to work in Axiom, you need to use the following camera rotation settings!
Rotation x y z
Right: 0 90 0
Left: 0 270 0
Front: 0 0 0
Back: 0 180 0
Up: 270 180 180
Down: 90 0 0
...More to come...
