Hi

Since I'm new I figure I should introduce myself. My name is Skatt, pronounced like cat. I started coding when I was 10 and I discovered MUDs. Since then I have written several from-scratch MUD projects including an OLC system that let people create and customize everything needed for the game, including objects, NPCs, classes, races, abilities, and any other command really. I'd like to do something similar for Axiom once I get a handle on using C# and programming on windows. I'll add details in a sec, first, my experience.
Overall, I have 10 years of experience in C and very minimal with C++. I have always been all about handling code efficiently and C# appeals to that aspect of myself. I am used to programming in a Unix environment, so using VS is a bit of a leap for me. I've been on a hiatus from coding for about 3 years now, I'm 24 btw. Just getting back into it because my friends are always talking about ideas for games they wish they could make.
I like to make tools when I code. My goals are typically designed to appeal to those who do not have the capacity to understand programming languages and limited capacity when it comes to game design logic. Axiom is appealing to me because you seem to handle everything in an organized hierarchy, this is how I like to handle things. I plan to create a series of tools that are designed to let people use Axiom with minimal to no programming experience necessary. Have created text-based programs to simulate various styles of gameplay already. My main goal is to allow my system to change playing style on the fly so that the designer can have multiple styles of gameplay in the game if he/she chooses to. Really just to provide possibilities to those who are limited.
I'm hoping that once I get adjusted to this change in language and environment I'll be a productive member of this team and help you guys keep moving forward.

It is very nice... I also liked MUDs... Many years have passed since i last play one of them, but their taste still remains. :) I also develop an RPG game project named SAGA that uses Axiom as Render Engine, you can checkout from:

Object Oriented Programing is very usefull. C# is also a good choice to master on it.

Re: Hi

I already came across your project when I was surfing for answers to some of my coding issues. I'd like to be involved at some point, but the more I work with Axiom the more I realize what a learning curb it's going to be to learn Visual Studio, C#, Axiom architecture, and visual design all at once.
I've been trying to recreate all of the examples using as little from them as I can. I'm hoping Borrillis will have something done with the new demos and browers soon also. I'm excited to see some up-to-date code to go with the recent changes.
I came across Axiom a couple years ago and was very excited about it, but it was during a time when the community wasn't very active and I was unable to get very far with it. When I found it again a couple weeks ago and saw that the community was much more active I was ecstatic. I am grateful for this wonderful graphics engine and for the support I've been given over the last week. You guys are all doing a great job! I look forward to catching up to all of you and becoming a useful member of the Axiom team.
Anyone know some good (free hopefully, I'm flat broke) e-books on C#, .NET 3.0, and Managed DirectX? I'm looking more for tricks and techniques than basic structure, I've got that down well enough. MSDN works great for that (and for vague details on the usage of the included methods).

Re: Hi

I learned C# after 5 years of Java SE/ME experience, so it was little more easy for me (since C# & Java really familiar), so i cant offer you any book for that...

Deitel&Deitel publishings for Java and C++ were very useful for details and tricks, but i dont know if C# version exists.

Anyway, MSDN is very nice source to learn C# and .NET3.0
